Pot Roast Recipe

Pot Roast with Carrots and Potatoes

Ingredients

4 lbs of beef pot roast
1/8 tsp of pepper
½ cup of hot water
1 tsp of salt
¼ cup of butter
20 onions (small)
1 beef bouillon
2 cups of carrots (chopped)
4 potatoes (quartered)

For the gravy:

1 1/3 cups of the drippings
1 cup of sour cream
3 tbsp of all purpose flour
¼ cup of cold water

Instructions

Start this homemade pot roast recipe by covering the roast with flour. Put the butter in a baking dish and melt it. Brown the meat and add the salt and pepper. Melt the bouillon in the hot water. Sprinkle this over the meat. Put this in the oven (350 degrees). Cook it for 90 minutes.

After 90 minutes, add carrots and onions. Cook for 15 more minutes. Toss in the potatoes and some salt. Cook for another 45 minutes. Put the meat and veggies on a plate.

Pour the drippings in a saucepan. Add flour and water and stir it. Boil this. Add more flour and water. Keep stirring this pot roast recipe mix until it thickens. Cook for 2 minutes and add the sour cream. Heat it.

Pot Roast with Mushrooms

Ingredients

2 tbsp of cooking oil
4 lbs of bottom round
¼ cup of flour
8 ounces of mushrooms
1 onion (sliced)
12 ounces of mushroom gravy
½ cup of red wine
Some salt and pepper

Instructions

Put the oil in a skillet at medium high heat. Powder the roast with salt and pepper. Cover it with flour. Brown the meat and put it in a slow cooker. Toss the onions in a skillet. Stir until the onions turn brown. Toss it in the slow cooker.

Continue cooking this pot roast recipe by pouring the gravy over the meat. Pour in the wine as well. Cook it for 10 hours at a low setting. Take out the roast and put it on a plate. Take out the juices and transfer them into a saucepan. Boil it for 5 minutes.

Pot Roast with Rutabaga

Ingredients

1 onion
¼ cup of water
1 cup of potatoes
1 cup of rutabaga
1/3 cup of celery
Salt and pepper
1 cup of carrots
2 tsp of parsley flakes

Instructions

Brown the meat and add the salt. Add the water and onion. Let it simmer for 4 hours. Add in the other ingredients and simmer for another 30 minutes. Take out the meat.

Put in more flour and water to the sauce. Keep adding flour and water until the mix thickens. Put in a little bit more salt and pepper for extra flavors. Pour this over the meat. Serve this meal hot.
