Scalloped Potatoes Recipe

These scalloped potatoes recipes employ a variety of seasonings, vegetables and spices. You can try these out to give your own dish a new twist.

Scalloped Potatoes with Mushrooms

Ingredients

4 cups of potatoes (sliced thin)
½ onions (chopped)
1 can of mushrooms (chopped and drained)
1 can (10 ounces) of Cheddar cheese soup (condensed)
1 cup of herb spiced croutons
1 cup of tomatoes (do not drain)

Instructions

Grease the baking dish with butter. Add in half the potatoes, mushrooms and onion. Top it off with a little salt. Get another bowl and pour in the soup. Toss in the tomatoes. Transfer half of it in the pan. Keep repeating this until the scalloped potatoes recipe ingredients are emptied out.

Top it with cheese soup. Put a foil over it. Bake it for 90 minutes at 350 degrees. Take off the cover and sprinkle it with croutons. Bake it again for 5 minutes. Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Ingredients

6 cups of potatoes (sliced)
6 green onions (chopped)
½ cup of celery (chopped)
2 cups of ham (cooked)
3 tbsp of butter
1 ¼ cup of milk
½ cup of carrots
3 tbsp of flour
1 ½ cups of cheddar cheese (divide it)

Instructions

Toss the butter in a saucepan and let it melt (low heat). Now you add the seasonings of this scalloped potatoes recipe. Throw in the celery, carrots and onions. Add the ham. Stir it until the veggies become tender. Toss in the flour and stir it until the mixture turns bubbly. Pour in the cheese. Pour in a bit more milk if needed.

Put some of the potatoes in a 2 quart casserole. Spread the sauce over it. Add more potatoes and sauce. Make as many layers as you want. Bake it at 325 degrees for 45 minutes. Add some more cheese toppings. Bake it for another 10 minutes. This is good for 6 servings. This scalloped potatoes recipe is served hot.

Scalloped Potatoes with Mushroom Soup

Ingredients

1 lb of ham (cooked)
5 cups of potatoes (sliced thin)
¼ cups of milk
1 can of mushroom soup
2 tbsp of butter
1/3 cup of red bell pepper
½ cup of onion (chopped)
1/8 tsp of ground black pepper
1 cup of cheddar cheese

Instructions

Slice the ham into bite size chunks. Put the potatoes in a baking dish. Top it with the ham. Add more potatoes. Mix the milk with the soup. Add the onions and bell pepper. Spray the ground pepper. Add a bit of butter. Put a foil over it. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Top it off with some of the cheddar cheese. Cook it for another 15 minutes.

Note: the extra baking time is required in all scalloped meals. The baking time is usually 10 but others do it for 15 minutes.

These scalloped potatoes recipes can also be flavored with other herbs and seasonings. Also remember that you can increase the salt and pepper to add more flavors.
