Dirty Rice Recipe

Your rice dressing doesn’t need to get repetitive to the point it gets bland. With these tasty dirty rice recipes, every meal will taste different.

Dirty Rice with Chicken Gizzards

Ingredients

1 lb of ground lean pork
½ lb of chicken gizzards
2 tbsp of bacon juices
1/3 cup of green bell pepper
1/3 cup of onions
½ cup of celery (chopped)
2 cloves of garlic (medium)
2 tsp of salt
2 tsp of butter
1 tsp of paprika
1 lb of chicken liver
1 tsp of black pepper
1 ½ cups of rice (long grain)
½ cup of green onions (chopped but with the tops)
4 cups of chicken broth

Instructions

Start this dirty rice recipe by simmering the gizzards in the broth for half an hour. Take out the gizzards and mince it. Set the broth aside. Put the bacon drippings in a casserole with the butter. Cook the gizzards and pork at high heat.

Stop when the pork’s pink color disappears. Lower the heat settings. Toss in all the vegetables. Add the seasonings too. Cook until the vegetables get tender.

Add in the rice and broth to the mix. Boil it and stir. Put the cover on and lower the heat. Let it simmer for 15 minutes. Sauté the livers for a couple of minutes. Add more salt to this easy dirty rice recipe if you want. Put the rice in an oven for 10 minutes at 225 F.

Dirty Rice with Shrimp

Ingredients

1 lb of shrimp
1 cup of rice (raw)
1 tsp of Gravy Master
1 can of mushroom soup
½ cup of celery (chopped)
1 tsp of salt
2 tsp of ground black pepper
1/3 cup of green bell pepper (crushed)
½ cup of green onions (chopped)
1 can of condensed onion soup

Instructions

Toss all the ingredients in a baking dish (8 x 8”). Mix it and cover it with two layers of foil. Bake it for an hour at 425 degrees.

Dirty Rice with Ground Beef

Ingredients

2 cups of chopped chicken livers
1 clove of garlic (minced)
½ tsp of salt
½ tsp of pepper
1 cup of onion (minced)
4 cups of rice (long grain)
½ cup of celery (chopped)
2 lbs of ground beef (for this dirty rice recipe, crab meat can also be used)

Instructions

Sprinkle the meat with pepper and salt. Cook it over medium heat. Stir until it turns brown. Toss in the rest of the vegetables. Keep cooking until they get transparent. Add a little bit of water and cover it. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer until they soften. Toss in the rice and stir it.

Note: all these recipes are served hot. You can also use other seasonings like thyme, bay leaves and oregano. For a different taste, try adding a 1/3 cup (or more) of sherry.
