Dumpling Recipe

Dumplings with Apples


¾ cup shortening
½ cup of milk
6 apples (chopped and peeled)
For the syrup:
½ cup of sugar
1 tsp of cinnamon
1 tsp of nutmeg
1 stick of butter (cut into pieces)
2 tsp of baking powder
2 cups of flour
2 cups of hot water
¼ tsp of nutmeg
¼ of cinnamon
2 cups of sugar
1/3 cup of heavy cream


Mix the baking powder, flour and salt; cut in the shortening up to the point the mix turns rough. For this dumpling recipe, you need to pour in the milk slowly. Stir the mix until it turns into a dough. Flatten it on a floured surface. Chop into 5 inch pieces.

Put three pieces of apple in each square. Spray about 2 teaspoons of sugar on the apples. Add a bit of nutmeg, butter and cinnamon too. Lightly damp the corners with water. Bring up the corners and cover each piece. Put all the pieces on a greased baking dish.

Get a saucepan. Pour in a couple of cups of sugar. Add the nutmeg, hot water, cinnamon and butter. The butter, cinnamon and nutmeg are all ¼ tsp. Mix it until the sugar in this tasty dumpling recipe dissipates.

6 chicken breasts (boneless and skinless)

1 box of Bisquick
1 cup of flour
3 tsp of butter


Half fill a pot with water. Put the chicken breasts in it. Sprinkle in a bit of pepper and salt. Cook at medium high heat. Take out the chicken and chop it into bite size chunks. Insert the chicken back in the pot and allow it to simmer. Now you need to make the dumplings for this dumpling recipe.

Use the Bisquick and milk to make them. Add some flour and mix it thoroughly. Make balls (1 inch) for the dumplings. When you’re done, turn up the heat for the chicken broth. Put the dumplings in there.

1 stewing chicken


Slice the chicken and put in a pot filled with water. Toss in some salt and let it simmer. Combine the dry ingredients with milk to create the dough. Flatten the dough and chop into small squares. Toss in the broth and cook for 40 minutes. Serve with meat.
