Greek Salad Recipe

Perfect for health conscious people, Greek salad combines the tasty goodness and pleasant flavors of different nutritious ingredients. This traditional dish is very easy to make, comprised mainly of feta cheese, red onion and cucumber. Likewise, this healthy dish also contains fresh and cheap ingredients such as anchovies, capers and bell peppers. This homemade Greek salad recipe can be prepared using a variety of ways. Here is a quick look at two different ways of cooking it.

Greek Salad Taverna

The ingredients for this appetizing treat include 3-tablespoons of lemon juice, 1/3-cup of extra virgin olive oil and ½-pound green spinach egg noodles. Aside from these, you also need ½-teaspoon of anise seed, ½-teaspoon of Tabasco sauce and a piece of minced clove garlic. In addition, be sure to prepare 2-pieces of coarsely chopped tomatoes, ½-pound of crumbled feta cheese and ¼-teaspoon salt. You will also need ¼-cup sunflower seeds or pine nuts, ½-cup sliced black olives and ¼-cup chopped fresh parsley.

Once you have gathered everything you need, start by cooking the noodles in boiling water. After 3 to 5 minutes, slowly drain and allow the noodles to cool down. After that, get a large bowl and then put the Tabasco sauce, garlic and lemon juice. Add the salt and anise as well. Mix thoroughly to distribute the flavors. Put the noodles right into the mixture. Put the nuts, parsley and olives. Do the same for the tomatoes and cheese. Toss the ingredients. Top with Feta cheese and then serve. If there is no Feta cheese available, you can use a cup of cottage cheese instead.

Greek Salad Topped with French Dressing

If you wish to add a unique taste to the traditional Greek salad recipe, it is good to use French dressing on it. This dish is not that hard to make. For the salad, you need ½-pound of Greek calamata olives, a pound of feta cheese and a piece of thinly sliced cucumber. Likewise, prepare 2-pieces of ripe tomatoes, 2-pieces of peeled and sliced yellow onions as well as a coarsely shredded head of iceberg lettuce. Do not forget to add a pinch or two of freshly ground pepper. For the dressing, the ingredients include ½-cup red wine vinegar, ½-cup peanut oil and ½-cup olive oil. In addition, prepare a tablespoon of dry mustard, a teaspoon of sugar as well as ½-cup of white vinegar.

Once the ingredients are complete, place all the ingredients for the dressing inside the blender. After the ingredients are processed, expect to produce at least 2-cups of dressing. Place the salad ingredients inside a large bowl. Pour the dressing on top of it and then toss the ingredients. Serve and enjoy.
