You can actually make some gravy in an easy way by just using a tablespoon of butter, a tablespoon of flour, and a can of chicken broth.

Ingredients

This turkey gravy recipe is really easy and you can cook it in just 20 minutes. You will need to prepare the following ingredients: turkey broth or stock, flour and butter for the roux, salt, ground black pepper, mesh strainer, roasted turkey pan drippings, onion, celery, and carrots.

Turkey Gravy Cooking Procedure

Using a low to medium heat, boil the turkey stock in a saucepan just when it begins to simmer. Take your pan drippings and if there are any excessive quantity of fats in the drippings, it is best to drain them off first. Then pour the drippings to your simmering turkey stock.

Using a different saucepan over medium heat, dissolve a tablespoon of butter in it. Chop the celery, onions, and carrots and saute them in the melted butter. Saute the vegetables until they are just slightly brown and be careful not to make them burnt. For every cup of turkey stock, use a tablespoon of each vegetable you prepare.

Stir in a tablespoon of flour into the sauteed vegetables to create a roux for your turkey gravy. Simmer the roux for about one to two minutes until it has turned into a golden brown in color. Then slowly mix the hot turkey stock into the saucepan that contains the roux. Continuously whisk the mixture while slowly adding the turkey stock into it.

Bring the mixture to a boil and then let it simmer over medium heat. Reduce the quantity of the mixture by about one-third. Then strain the cooked turkey gravy using a mesh strainer with a cheesecloth in it. Use salt and ground black pepper to season before serving. That’s how easy it is to make a delicious turkey gravy anytime you want it.

Cooking Tips

To add some aroma and flavor to your turkey gravy, you can do this in the easy way by adding in some bay leaf. You can put a bay leaf while heating up the turkey stock or while reducing the gravy mixture.

You also have the option to add a clove of garlic that is finely minced while sauteeing your vegetables.

Leaving the turkey gravy on the stove for a little longer will thicken it continuously. The easy solution to thin the gravy out is to add in more hot turkey stock or water.
