Creamed Spinach Recipe

Also known as Spinacia oleracea, spinach is a nutritious vegetable that belongs to the Amaranthaceae family. Many culinary experts use this vegetable in their specialties because it contains nutrients and minerals that are helpful to our body. Some of the nutrients that we can get from spinach are calcium, iron, vitamin A and vitamin K. Traditional Creamed Spinach

In this unique recipe, you need 1 ½ cups whole milk, four small boxes of frozen spinach, ½ cup liquid and three cloves garlic. To enhance the taste of the entrée, you should have two tablespoons butter, three tablespoons all purpose flour, ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg and ½ teaspoon combined salt and pepper.

Mix the spinach liquid, milk and garlic in a microwaveable bowl. Cover the bowl with a lid or a microwaveable saucer. Set the microwave oven to medium heat. Place the bowl inside the oven and heat the mixture for five minutes to 10 minutes.

Place the butter on a baking dish and set the Dutch oven to medium high heat. Add in the flour and the milk mixture in the dish. Add in the spinach and place the baking dish in the oven. Cook for five minutes then add in the nutmeg, cheese as well as the salt and pepper. Serve immediately.

Slow Cooker Creamed Spinach

This tasty and delectable dish contains two packages of spinach, two cups of cottage cheese, ½ cup butter, three beaten eggs, 1 ½ cups cubed process American cheese, ¼ cup all purpose flour and a teaspoon of salt. The first step is to grease four small slow cookers. Combine the spinach, butter, American cheese, ¼ cup all purpose flour, eggs and salt in a bowl. Mix well and transfer the dish in the slow cookers. Set the slow cookers to high temperature. Cook the dish for an hour then lower the heat setting. Cook the dish for four hours to five hours or until the vegetables are tender. Transfer the dish in a clean bowl. Garnish the dish with chopped parsley. To enjoy the dish, it is best if you will serve it with a plate of rice. You can also serve it with roasted meat or deep fried chicken.
