If you wish to try this quick and easy dish, allot 15 minutes for the preparation, 30 minutes for chilling and 15 to 18 minutes for baking.

Ingredients

Before you start with this treat, it is best to have all the right ingredients necessary to complete it. These include a tablespoon of water, 3-tablespoons of granulated sugar as well as ½-cup of softened butter. Additionally, you must also have a cup of all-purpose flour, ¼-teaspoon salt and a teaspoon of almond extract for richer flavor and taste. To give the dish a sweeter taste, bring in ½-cup of powdered sugar. For the main ingredient, prepare a cup or approximately 4½-ounces of finely chopped almonds.

Directions

Get a large clean bowl. Combine sugar and cream butter. Mix thoroughly until it turns into a light colored mixture. Slowly add the salt, almond extract as well as water. Use the mixer and then set it to low speed. Process the flour. Add the almonds. After creating the dough, put it inside the refrigerator and then chill for approximately 30 minutes.

Take the dough out of the chiller. Cut it and then create small rolls or fingers, preferably 2-inches long each. Get an ungreased cookie sheet. Put the fingers on top and leave enough space in between each roll, preferably an inch away from the next. Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Once it heats up, put the cookie sheet inside and then bake the fingers for approximately 15 to 18 minutes.

When the baking process is over, take the fingers out of the oven and then allow them to cool down slightly. While warm, roll them on a plate covered with a layer of powdered sugar. This will help the sugar not to fall off from the fingers. Before serving this tasty treat, you can roll them once more over sugar in order to make the dish tastier.

Additional Tips and Information

It is easier to melt the butter inside the microwave. Put the stick of butter on a microwavable bowl. Set it to medium-high and then melt the butter for approximately 30 seconds. You can store these cookies for up to a week as long as you keep them in airtight containers at room temperature. If you wish to store them for a longer time, it is best to refrigerate them.
