The Way to Cooking Starts with the Best Ingredients

This quick dish includes just a few ingredients that may be there in your kitchen cupboard all along.

Your ingredients should include the following: a half cup of chopped onion, one fourth cup of chopped green bell pepper (you may substitute red green bell pepper if you like or have it mixed with both), a large clove of minced garlic, two teaspoons of canola oil for cooking, a cup of cooked long-grain rice, a can of diced tomatoes (not drained), a teaspoon of chili powder, one fourth teaspoon of ground cumin, a half teaspoon of salt, and last but not the least, one and one half cups of beef broth.

The Manner of Preparation Takes a Few Minutes

Heat the canola oil in a heavy skillet.

Next, it’s time to sauté your bell pepper, garlic, and onion in the skillet. Continue cooking until you notice that your onion is softened. Some would prefer taking notice of the garlic and will know when it’s already cooked by the change of its color. It would change to a golden brown color when cooked.

Add your cup of rice to the skillet. Cook this all in a medium to high heat. Wait until the rice becomes brown.
Then, add your tomatoes, chili powder, beef broth, and salt. Mix all these ingredients.

Bring them all to a boil. Once it boils, cover, and change the temperature of the heat to low.

Let it simmer so all the juice of various ingredients will mix well and become absorbed. That should take about twenty minutes.
