Pizza Dough Recipe

With so many food costs rising for delicious foods like pizza, many turn to homemade recipes that one can easily make at home. That is why instead of going to food establishments serving pizza and grocery stores selling frozen pizza dough, an easy pizza dough recipe made at one’s own home sounds better to many people.

Here’s how to make a simple pizza dough recipe:

The Ingredients

Making your own pizza dough to enjoy and serve with your favorite toppings involve just a few basic things.

Typically, all you need to prepare includes these things: An envelope of active dry yeast, a cup of warm water (about 110 degrees F), one and one half teaspoons of sugar, about two and one fourth teaspoon to around two and one half cups of all-purpose flour, two tablespoons of olive oil, and a teaspoon of salt.

The Preparation

In preparing your dough, it is important to place your warm water in a cup and slowly put yeast by sprinkling this over the water. Stir in the sugar. Set it aside for awhile and let it stand for approximately ten minutes, or until you notice some bubbles on the mixture.

The next thing to do is to combine your salt and the two and one fourth cups of flour in a bowl. Mix this well.

Then, slowly pour your olive oil. Mix again. Add the yeast mixture you made earlier. Stir until you notice that the dough is formed.

On a flat surface sprinkle some flour. This is where you will knead your dough.

Turn your dough on the surface, and knead it with your bare hands for about five minutes. Sometimes, all you need to observe to know when to stop kneading the dough is to check the consistency of the dough. If it is smooth and more elastic, that’s the time to stop. You may also add an extra sprinkling of flour if your hands get a bit sticky.

Now, it’s time to get a large bowl and rub some butter or shortening to help prevent the dough from sticking to the sides. Place your dough in the bowl and coat it well. Cover this with a small towel and set it aside. This should be at room temperature. Leave it for about thirty minutes – the approximate waiting period for the dough to rise.

After waiting for thirty minutes, check the dough. You will notice that it is larger and doubled in its bulk.

With your hands, punch down the dough. Then, shape it to fit a pizza pan that is lightly greased with butter or shortening, and sprinkled with cornmeal. As you shape it, be sure to make the ends of the dough slightly thick.

It’s now time for the fun part. Go ahead and fill the dough with pizza sauce, mushrooms, bell peppers, beef, and other toppings that you like.

Put this in the oven and bake for fifteen to twenty minutes. Bake at 425 degrees F. And you will be able to know how more satisfying (in terms of budget and taste) your very own pizza dough recipe is with the toppings and fillings you love the most.
