Cornbread Recipe

Buttermilk Cornbread

Ingredients

2 tsp of salt
1/3 tsp of baking soda
1 cup of buttermilk
1 egg (beaten)
1 tsp of baking powder
1/3 cup of all purpose flour
1 cup of cornmeal

Instructions

Mix all the dry ingredients. Combine the egg and milk in a bowl. Stir them well and add to the dry ingredients. Grease a 9 inch iron skillet. Bake it for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. If it turns brown, it’s already baked. This recipe is good for 8 servings.

Cornbread Mexican Style

Ingredients

1 tsp of baking soda
1 cup of milk
1 ½ tbsp of sugar
1 cup of cheddar cheese (shredded)
8 ounce can of cream corn
1 can of chile peppers
½ tsp of salt
1/3 cup of shortening
2 cup of cornmeal

Instructions

Begin this cornbread recipe by preheating the oven to 450 degrees. Combine the cornmeal, sugar and shortening. Add some salt, soda and eggs to the mix. Pour in the milk and mix.

Add the peppers and the milk. Grease a 9 inch pan and transfer half of the mixture in it. Scatter half of the shredded cheese on it. Pour the remaining half on the cheese. Top it with the remaining cheese. Bake it for 20 minutes at 450 degrees.

Quick and Easy Cornbread

Ingredients

1 cup of cornmeal
¾ cup of flour
2 egg whites (large)
Canola oil (2 tbsp and 2 tsp)
1 ½ cups of water
¾ tsp of baking soda
3 tbsp of sugar (optional for this cornbread recipe)
6 tbsp of buttermilk

Instructions

Insert an iron skillet in the oven. Preheat it to 425 degrees. Whisk the 2 tbsp of oil with the water and egg whites. Get a large bowl. Put the cornmeal in it. Add the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and buttermilk. Mix this and add to the eggs and water.
Pour in the two teaspoons of oil in the pan. Put the batter in the pan. Cook it for 20 minutes.

Cornbread with Sausages

Ingredients

2 lb of sausages
2 eggs
1 cup of onion (chopped)
1/3 cup of sugar
2 tsp of baking powder
1 tsp of salt
1 cup of whole kernel corn (drained)
2 cups of cornmeal

Instructions

Start this cornbread recipe by cooking the sausages. Save 4 teaspoons of the juice from the skillet. Toss the onions in the sausage juice in the skillet. Mix the eggs and buttermilk in a bowl. Stir the sugar, baking powder and flour. Add the cornmeal and salt to this mix. Add the corn and stir. Fold the onions and keep the juices.

Mix the batter well. Pour this into a greased pan (13 x 9 2”, floured). Set the sausages above the batter. Add the juices. Bake for half an hour at 375 degrees.
